Social Workers

The University Academy Social Worker’s role in student development is to help each student reach their full potential. The School Social Worker assists students and their families in locating resources and finding opportunities, both at school and in the community, to ensure that they are able to be successful while in school. The school Social Worker provides faculty, students, and families with an understanding of the psycho-social development of children and the influences of family, community, environment, and cultural differences as they interact with the educational process.

The School Social Worker provides the following services to students and families:
  • individual and group counseling (anger management, self-esteem, grief and loss, etc.)
  • advocacy
  • crisis intervention
  • character development
  • locating community resources
  • uniform assistance
Please contact Ms. Brianne Phillips by phone at 816-412-5956 or by email at phillipsb@universityacademy.org if you have any questions about the school social work program, would like to refer your child for services, need uniform assistance, or have gently used uniforms to donate.
