The Upper School faculty, staff, and students at University Academy take the mission of University Academy seriously for obvious reasons: Upper School is an individual student's last four years to prepare for college and for leadership in society.
We congratulate the Class of 2022, our eighteenth graduating class. These students well understood that our mission is real. Thanks to our parents who support our mission, the teachers who remain dedicated to it, and our students who live it daily in the classroom. Each graduate of University Academy was accepted into a four-year college or university. A college-preparatory school worth its salt gives its stakeholders the tools to participate fully in bringing about the success of students.
Our curriculum is rigorous. Our methods are research-based and our teachers work hard to make learning accessible to every student. Our guiding principle is informed by a simple motto: we will support you, but you must do your very best—in and out of the classroom. At University Academy, there is no social promotion. The standards are clear and so are the expectations. Finally, to ensure that students acquire the skills necessary for success in higher education, we employ a rather simple idea called Mastery teaching and testing protocol.
Character education is another aspect of what we do. We think this is critical to achieving our mission. For that reason, we devote time and resources to helping our students, first, to understand themselves, for it is only when one understands oneself that one is in the best position to understand others, which is a prerequisite for leadership.
