Coach Martez Gardner was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Lincoln College Prep in 1985 where he was a 1st team All State performer in football and baseball. Coach went on to attend Grambling State University and Maple Woods Community College. He cut short college to play minor league baseball. Coach was later inducted into the Ban Johnson Hall of Fame in 2017, Kansas City and one of the nations premiere summer college baseball leagues.
Coach Gardner began coaching kids at his local church and eventually getting more involved in his sons life by volunteering his time at UA to be more involved in his life. He considers it a privilege to pass on his knowledge to the next generation. He takes training up the next generation of young as personal challenge. Knowing that his time will eventually end, but the young men and women will be his legacy.
