1. Do students pay tuition?
No, University Academy is a charter public school. Since the school is a public school, there is no tuition for students.

2. What is the mission of the school?
The mission of the University Academy is to prepare students to succeed in an institution of higher education and to participate as leaders in society.

3. How do I enroll?
The first step in the enrollment process is completing an application. Applications are chosen at random for enrollment. Enrollment dates are scheduled for students who have been accepted.

4. What are the requirements for enrollment in the University Academy?
Students must live within the Kansas City, Missouri School District. The charter school law in Missouri allows for priority to be given to students who live within our "neighborhood", students who have a sibling already enrolled at University Academy, and students who have a parent who is employed by University Academy.

5. What is the neighborhood?
The neighborhood boundaries are 49th Street to 85th Street, and Oak to Paseo.

6. Is the University Academy accredited?
Yes, the University Academy is fully accredited through North Central Association – Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. North Central's website address is http://www.ncacasi.org. This accreditation is important to us since many colleges and universities are accredited through North Central as well.

7. Is transportation available?
Yes, school buses pick up students who live further than a mile from school. School buses stop at scheduled stops.

8. Are students required to wear uniforms?
Yes, University Academy students must dress according to a dress code which offers a fairly limited number of choices. The school believes this policy helps create a positive educational environment.

9. What is the curriculum?
The University Academy is a rigorous college preparatory school with a college preparatory curriculum. Please see the section of the website on "Academics" for more specific information on course offerings.

10. Is lunch provided?
Yes, University Academy provides both breakfast and lunch. Students may qualify for free or reduced lunch. Other students pay the price established by the school. Additional information regarding school food service policies and procedures can be found by CLICKING HERE.
