| UA Alum Receives Full Athletic Scholarship |
 |
|
Martez Harrison is Awarded Full Scholarship at UMKC Last week University Academy alum Martez Harrison committed to UMKC. He accepted a full athletic scholarship, and will attend college and play basketball for the Kangaroos. After graduating in May of 2012, Martez Harrison turned down two NCAA Division 1 scholarship offers to attend Southern Illinois University and Western Illinois University, and instead headed to Brewster Academy prep school for his first year of college.
Martez decided that attending a prep school before enrolling in a four year university would enhance his maturity in the classroom and on the court. Brewster Preparatory has one of the most dominating prep basketball teams in the country. They traditionally boast a high academic standard; like UA. Brewster brings in some of the best high school basketball players yearly.
Brewster played in the prep school national championship game in March of 2013. Martez Harrison was the starting point guard on the team. Martez felt that the next step of attending UMKC was a solid choice and that being able to play in front of friends and family over the next four years is a plus.
UMKC has a new coaching staff in place. UMKC new head coach Kareem Richardson is the former assistant of national champion Louisville head coach Rick Pitino. Help us congratulate UA alum Martez Harrison! |
