Pic Jeremy "JJ" Dorrell was born in Springfield, Missouri. He graduated from Ozark High School in 2012. In high school Coach Dorrell accumulated a record of 135 wins and 12 losses in the sport of wrestling. He won numerous tournaments and conference championships. He was a four time freestyle and greco state champion and achieved All-American status after placing 4th and 6th in Freestyle and Greco at Nationals in 2010. 

Coach Dorrell attend Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri on a wrestling scholarship, where he majored in Exercise Science and minored in business administration.

While at Truman, Coach Dorrell was a four year letterman and team captain. He was named most outstanding wrestler his senior year leading the team with 25 wins. Coach Dorrell was a three time Academic All-American and was named the James R. Spaulding Sportsmanship winner of the Greats Lake Valley Conference his senior year. 

In 2017, Coach Dorrell and his wife, Alison, moved to Kansas City after graduating college. Coach Dorrell got hired to teach eighth grade science at University Academy. In 2018, Coach Dorrell got involved with coaching wrestling at Northeast High School where he was the high school assistant coach. This past year, Coach Dorrell with the help of John Gresham and others at University Academy were able to establish a wrestling program for the school. Coach Dorrell is very excited for the future and to build a program at University Academy.
