University Academy launched its wrestling program in the 2019–2020 school year. In just a few years, it has grown into a thriving program that now serves high school boys, high school girls, and middle school athletes.
The program continues to build momentum each season. We proudly celebrated our first state qualifier in the 2021-2022 school year, followed by our first state medalist during the 2022–2023 season. Since then, University Academy has qualified 10 wrestlers to the state tournament. During the 2025–2026 season, UA set a program record with four state qualifiers in a single year. That same season also marked another milestone as UA had its first boys' state medalist.
Participation and success continue to grow as more scholars join the program and embrace the discipline, grit, and teamwork that wrestling demands. Several UA wrestlers have also gone on to compete at the collegiate level, reflecting the program’s continued growth. As one of the few charter schools in Missouri offering wrestling, University Academy is proud to provide this opportunity for its student-athletes while continuing to build a program grounded in hard work and a growing tradition of success.
